ScreenFlow FAQ
How Do I — Record Part of Desktop

Record Part of Desktop

ScreenFlow always records the whole desktop. This powerful feature of ScreenFlow means you never have to worry about accidentally going “outside” of the bounds of your preset size, allowing you to focus on your presentation.

However, there are times when you want to show only part of your desktop as your screencast.

There are two simple ways to accomplish this task:

  • Crop Canvas

Press the Crop Canvas icon () at the left below the video window to globally crop the canvas.

You can very quickly chop everything out of your screen recording except the selected area with this feature.

We snap to the frontmost window to make this even faster for you to do when you want to show the frontmost window only.

  • Crop a clip

If you hold down the control-key when you move the edges of a clip in the preview area, the clip will be cropped. This is useful if you want to add a reflection to your cropped screencast.
